Knee pain can affect the knee joint or the bones, the soft tissue and the nerves that support the knee area. Injury can affect any of the ligaments, bursae, tendons surrounding the knee joint. Injury can also affect the ligaments, cartilage, meniscus and bones forming the joint. Locking is a symptom that occurs when a patient cannot bend or straighten their knee.
