When a bone breaks it is called a fracture. There’s more than one way to break or fracture a bone. A break can be anything from a hairline fracture (a thin break in the bone) to the bone that’s snapped in two pieces like a broken tree branch.

There is generally local bruising and tenderness in the effected area as well as possible skin stretch marks, band marks, localized swelling and forming hematomas. An X-ray is the best diagnostic method fractured bone.

Hairline bone fracture has minimal trauma to the bone and surrounding soft tissues. It is a incomplete fracture with no significant bone displacement and is considered a stable fracture. It is also known as a Fissure Fracture.

Fracture pain commonly results from bone metastases, accidents or large bruises. Deep somatic pain is usually described as dull or aching but localized. Somatic pain is usually sharper and may have a burning or pricking quality.
